(FAQ) Game Rules - 3 Ball

(About the Author)

These series of "Game Rules' provide rules of many different games for the pool table. The rules here have been simplified from the official versions - to make them a little easier to understand.

There are other games that have been invented, copyrighted and generally available to the playing public. Web searches will turn these up and the rules printed out for use.

3 Ball

This is a money game. Every player puts up an ante and takes a turn at the table. Single lowest score takes the pot.

If one tie, all tie. Another ante is added and another inning played.

If an excessive number of entries, in each round, all highest scores are eliminated from the next round. When down to four players, no further eliminations. Every round requires an ante.

Object

Break and pocket all three balls in the least number of strokes in a complete round.

Opponents

Multiple players.

Balls

Set of balls (1-3) plus the cue ball.

Racking

Ball on the foot spot, two balls in a triangle behind the head ball.

Breaking

Cue ball shot from the head spot. (Optional – from kitchen.)

Regular play

The player breaks and keeps shooting until all object balls are down.

Every stroke is counted. Total is recorded for that inning of play.

Fouls

All standard fouls count as one stroke.
