CB location (M5), Target Diamond (I1)

Practice this TML pattern on your table until each one becomes a known and trustworthy shot.

M5 to I1

10:30 Analysis

This sends the cue ball into the far corner and then back up table into the left side corner.

12:00 Analysis

The top spin on the cue ball into the 1st rail curves the path just enough to send the cue ball into the corner pocket. Without the top spin, the ball would come up short.

1:30 Analysis

The reverse spin at the 1st rail shortens up the path. It also removes energy from the ball. At a Medium 2 speed, the ball will still reach to the corner to hit any big ball.  Because of the loss of energy, the ball tends to stay in the area.

Other Sized Tables

For 8 foot tables, the same type of pattern requires about 1-1/4 tips out from center to get the paths shown. For 7 foot tables, 1-1/2 tip out from center is necessary to follow the pattern. The distances on small tables are less, so when the cue ball travels around in a trapezoid pattern, the rail contacts are more distorted.
