(About the author)

Safety Toolbox (Advanced)

This is today’s bit of advice from the book Safety Toolbox.

These are examples of hidden ball safeties for 8 Ball and 9 Ball. Practice controlled ball movement and patterns. As you get more familiar with the concept, it will be easier to quickly identify opportunities to make life difficult for your opponent.

Shots like this are easier than you think. Set this up and try it. Even if you don’t get the ideal results, you leave a complex problem for your opponent (always a good idea)

All this needs is stop shot. You could also shoot this slightly off center and nudge the cue ball behind the other ball.

9 Ball hidden ball, example 1

A soft stroke and a little right side spin make this an easy shot.

This is just too easy and simple to pass up. Even if you have an offensive shot, this opportunity to let your opponent give you ball in hand is your best option.
