Most of the time when you are cutting a shot into a pocket and miss, the cue ball almost always hits the object ball too full. The example below shows what usually happens.
When you notice yourself consistently hitting the object ball a little too full, you can increase the chances of success by making a simple modification to your aiming technique.
When you set up on the next similar cut shot, go through your normal pre-shot routine and aim where you think you should. Once you are settled down, shift the butt of your stick over to one side about an inch (2.5 cm). To your mind, it will appear that you will be over cutting the shot. This is how you intentionally adjust for an aim that feels right, but plays wrong.
This adjustment can only be made if you are paying attention to similar shots and the results. If not tracking your misses and why, you are going to be condemned to consistently experience failure. That can cost you games you could have won.
