There is the old saying, “Draw for show, follow for dough.” Using the correct amount of follow for the different cue ball speeds takes practice. Eventually, you can develop the correct “feel”.

The Cue Ball Clock System
Follow control 1
In this exercise, shoot through the object ball and lay the cue ball within an inch of the rail. The higher you hit the cue ball, the slower your ball speed must be. Learn how to push the cue ball through an object ball to get position. (Work with different speeds.) Lay the cue ball on the rail.
