(S&D) Safety & Defense – Personalities: The Angry Player

(About the author)

Safety Toolbox (Advanced)

(This is today’s bit of advice from the book Safety Toolbox.)

This type of player is either constantly upset or looking for an opportunity to display his short temper. He is usually found in bar environments. To him, pool is intended to be an interruption in an otherwise bad day. Unfortunately he still carries his emotional baggage into the game.

When overwhelmed with a series of safeties and difficult shots, he gets easily frustrated and becomes careless. He has lost control when he starts shooting much harder than previously. Another indicator is when he starts complaining of being sharked and otherwise screwed over.

At this point, you have already won, only needing to finish the competition. Do not taunt this type of person or keep adding to his troubles with more safeties. If he has already disintegrated, get the match over quickly.
